Abstract

A blend membrane consisting of 5.3 wt% copoly(N- isopropylacrylamide 1 H,1 H,2 H,2 H-perfluorododecyl acrylate) and poly(dimethylsiloxane) showed a high ethanol permselectivity ( α EtOH = 19.7 at 24°C) in pervaporation of 2.5 wt% aqueous ethanol solution. The value of α EtOH had a maximum at about 36°C. This behaviour was due to the water repellency and thermal transition of the copolymer accumulated at the membrane surface.
