Abstract

From electron-spin-resonance investigations we show that the isolated, substitutional Mn 2+ in the diluted magnetic semiconductor Pb 1−xMn xTe can be produced by ion implantation and subsequent annealing at temperatures lower than 340°C. Higher temperatures, which are employed in regular crystal growth, cause a clustering of Mn.
