Abstract
Background: Owing to the fragile nature of oocyte microstructures and evidence of spindle depolymerization with cooling, temperature regulation throughout the IVF process is critical. We have recently demonstrated that follicular fluid cools up to 6.6°C during follicle aspiration. This large temperature drop led us to hypothesize that further steps in the IVF process may also be associated with substantial heat loss.
