Abstract

We give a short review on several experimentally observed effects of finite sample temperature in angle-resolved photoemission (and inverse photoemission) spectra, and how they were interpreted within the framework of available theories. We report new high-resolution experiments on Cu(100) and Cu(111) which indicate that the present theoretical description should be improved. We make some suggestions along which lines this could be done.
