Abstract

Tissue temperatures of two mature pigmented types of corn plants ("purple" and "dilute sun red") at various heights (2.5, 50, 100 and 125 cm) above ground were measured during 14 days. The purple types were found to be warmer than the dilute sun red types at all heights, except at 2.5 cm where temperature reversal was often observed. A number of factors that are responsible for the variation in temperature difference of the colored plants with time and heights are discussed.
