Abstract

An ultrasonic interferometer (frequency 2 MHz) was employed to study the velocity anisotropy of ultrasound in a diester based magnetic fluid maintained at different temperatures. The fluid was subjected to (i) a magnetic field applied parallel to the wave propagation vector and to (ii) a zero magnetic field. Observations are explained on the basis of Parsons' model.
