Abstract

A calculation of the quadrupolar relaxation rate, R Q, in a liquid Rb model is reported and shown to be consistent with experimental estimates. When the electric field gradient function in a metal is short-ranged the theory predicts that the variation of R Q( T) along an isochore is somewhat slower than T −1 2 .
