Abstract

Temperature dependence of absorption, photoacoustic(PA), photoluminescence excitation(PLE) and photoluminescence(PL) spectra were measured for filter glasses which include sulfur-rich CdSxSe1-x microcrystals. Absolute quantum efficiency for radiative recombination was obtained by comparing photoacoustic spectra with photoluminescence spectra. Quantum efficiency of radiative recombination for small microcrystals is found to be higher than that for large microcrystals. By solving the rate equations, very small band-to-band nonradiative transition was suggested in these microcrystals. We regarded this as the main reason for the large quantum efficiency.
