Abstract

Temperature (T) dependence of the critical current density (Jc) in Bi-“2:2:2:3” Ag-sheathed multifilamentary tape is measured at magnetic fields (B) up to 7 T. The Jc-B-T relationship is quite similar to that of monocore-type tape. At high temperatures, strong anisotropy is observed in Jc-B characteristics while at temperatures below ˜30 K, the anisotropy becomes much weaker. The multifilamentary tape has Jc of 3.4×104 A/cm2 at 4.2 K and 7 T when B is applied parallel to the tape surface.
