Abstract

Pillar microcavities with an elliptical cross section have non degenerate linearly polarised fundamental cavity modes. Single photon emission from exciton doublets in InAs quantum dots embedded in the microcavity is also linearly polarised. By changing the sample temperature we are able to tune the exciton doublet onto resonance with either of the polarised cavity modes in order to select the polarisation of the collected emission.
