Abstract
Relative rate constants for hydride transfer reactions of C 2H 5su+ with n-alkanes (n-C 66H 14 ≡ 1.00) are obtained at different gas temperatures and at different kinetic energies of the C 2H 5su+ ions. No significant effects are observed; therefore the functional dependence of k on T or KE is the same for these reactions. The differences noted previously between the rate constants obtained from this gas chromatographic/mass spectrometric technique and those obtained from ion cyclotron resonance techniques cannot be due to temperature or ion energy differences between the two experiments.
