Abstract

The bis-2-amino-4-picolinium tetrachloromercurate-cadmate compound (C6H9N2)2(Hg0.75Cd0.25)Cl4 was prepared by hydrothermal method and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique. The electrical properties of the compound were studied using impedance spectroscopy in the frequency and temperature range of 200Hz–5MHz and 308–403K, respectively. The equivalent circuit is modeled by a combination of a parallel Rp//CPE circuit to explain the impedance results. The dielectric data were analyzed using complex electrical modulus M* at various temperatures. The activation energy responsible for the relaxation calculated from the modulus spectra is found to be almost the same as the value obtained from the temperature variation of dc conductivity. The electrical modulus and its scaling behavior are also investigated.
