Abstract

Crystals of CdI2 and CdBr2 are grown by melt-growth technique. Transmission electron microscopic and X-ray diffraction studies of these crystals are made. These studies reveal some defects in CdI2 and CdBr2 crystals. Dislocation network, grain boundary, extended dislocations etc. are observed on the basal planes. These crystals decompose after a prolonged exposure to the electron beam during transmission electron microscopic investigations.
