Abstract

The Virgen de la Antigua is an sculpture with an interesting attire and lavish quilts which additionally has been decorated with vestments since its arrival to the Cathedral in Jaén. Amidst 17th and 18th centuries the main ensemble appeared and some of them are still preserved, therefore it is necessary to relate them with the manufactures at that time and the dating of those styles. Furthermore, we behold a number of embroidery clothing which integrate previous styles to this magnificent collection. The principal aim of this essay is to study the engraved and polychromatic garb of this devotional image to provide new datum to its catalogue. Moreover, to get acquainted with its trousseau textile origin throughout source files and study the different pieces which adorn this unique heritage.
