Abstract

Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the technology transfer in the computer systems field. The saving banks in many countries of the world have for many years collaborated effectively through the medium of the International Savings Banks Institute, based in Geneva, Switzerland. All saving banks must strive to meet financial criteria appropriate to their respective national environments but in addition many of the banks have a strong commitment to the fulfillment of social obligation. In the recent years, with the increasing use of technology in banking at any rate in the so-called developed world, the need has arisen for some mechanism to improve the opportunities for other countries to use technological support for their banking systems should they so wish. The Trustee Savings Banks in the United Kingdom have as a result provided the opportunities for those involved in savings banking in the work of the Trustee Savings Banks and to receive education and training of a nature appropriate to their particular needs and in conformity with the objectives of the employing banks.
