Abstract

Library service points continue to be one of the few places for in-person contact where patrons can freely ask questions, including those involving technology. This is especially true in the college setting. Recognition of this need led to the creation of a hands-on Tech Academy for first-year, first-generation college students. When the pandemic hit, it became necessary to take the Academy online and expand it to the wider University student body. This article outlines the process used to rapidly develop, implement, and assess this technology mini-course. In addition, it considers the sustainability of such a program beyond the pandemic environment.
