Abstract

A new technology of flaky ferrite microcrystals with the aspect ratio significantly exceeding the level achieved previously has been developed. The approach is based on the introduction of an additional water-soluble lanthanum salt into the initial ferrite charge. The obtained highly disperse powders possess a large specific surface area and can be used as a model system for studying the surface contribution to the specific magnetic properties of fine particles.
