Abstract
Annotation. The influence of the hollow cathode effect (HCE) on local ion nitriding process of chrome-nickel steel was studied. Microstructures of nitrided case, surface microhardness and its profiles of sample of chrome-nickel steel were obtained and analyzed. The influence of the nitriding with HCE duration on diffusion layer thickness was studied. The probe measurements of parameters of the glow discharge plasma was performed and distributions of charged was particles densities was obtained. The technological process of local ion nitriding in a glow discharge with the HCE for “gear” detail was designed.
