Technological and Characterization Study on Preparation of Activated Carbon from Heilongjiang Coal

Abstract

In order to find suitable coal and preparation process of activated carbon from Heilongjiang coal , this paper studied preparation of activated carbon from Qitaihe, Yilan and Jixi coal, the factor of the absorption value of I2, such as the raw coal type, ratio of alkali/carbon, activated temperature, activated time by the method of orthogonal design. The study featured the better coal and optimum conditions: The results showed that Qitaihe anthracite was the better, and the activated carbon of which the absorption value of I2and BET surface area respectively reached up to 1946 mg·g-1and 1721 m2·g-1above, was prepared by Qitaihe anthracite pretreated under the experimental conditions of activated temperature of 850°C, activated time of 120min and ratio of alkali/carbon of 5/1. This disquisition has definite practical significance for open the applied realm of Heilongjiang coals.
