Abstract
Self-limiting heating cable design utilizing polycrystalline power disk technology are presented. These cables are capable of delivering a wide range of wattages for process applications and limiting their output with an increase in temperature. They are unique in that the output is not substantially affected by applied voltage and that they are unaffected by exposure to temperatures up to the temperature rating of the electrical insulation. The construction characteristics, qualifications, installation, and operating characteristics of the polycrystalline power disk cables are examined.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
