Abstract

Novice nurses are often overwhelmed as they apply new knowledge to nursing practice. They frequently fail to implement infection prevention strategies as prioritized nursing cares. Concept mapping has been shown to increase student and novice nurse ability to identify and prioritize nursing assessments/interventions. Instructors from a RN residency program evaluated the use of concept mapping to facilitate novice nurse learning and application of infection prevention strategies.
