Click to increase image sizeClick to decrease image size Additional informationNotes on contributorsSarah Guri‐RozenblitSarah Guri‐Rozenblit of the Open University of Israel (OUI) examines in this article the actual and potential contribution of the OUI to preservice and inservice training of teachers, in the light of recent policies and trends in the Israeli teacher education arena. In the last decade there have been growing pressures on the Ministry of Education to upgrade the education of the teaching force. The article analyses the role of the OUI in these new developments in the wider context of teacher education within a distance teaching university.
