Short selections on science and social studies topics followed by comprehension questions including factual recall, vocabulary, inference, main idea, cause/effect, and concept recognition. Emphasis is on teaching sophisticated concepts at low-readability levels. I have used these for tutoring situations, small group instruction, and independent assignments . The selections are interesting and informative . For tutoring and small group instruction I've used the levels corresponding to the students' actual reading level (instructional). For independent assignments I've usually had to use one level below the students' instructional level. Leader's Guide suggests activities for entire curriculum and includes sheet music with guitar and autoharp chords. I have adapted the activities for auditory training for all ages. The children get excited when they see me just reach for one of the records. We have also used the We Live Together kit of five songs put out by Alfred Publishing Co., copyright 1982, which includes a signing sheet for each song, lyric sheets, choral arrangements, and accompaniment and rehearsal/performance cassettes.
