Abstract

It is over fifty years since the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) declared its belief in the place of broadcasting in schools. Broadcasts were seen as a unique and enriching teaching 'aid', capable of bringing the outside world into the classroom in the form of expert speakers, eyewitness accounts, high quality drama, music and up to date information not available to the teacher.
