Abstract
The article considers the role of a teacher as a key participant in a process of forming effective relationship and achieving a high level of academic progress within a non-governmental educational organization. Models for hiring and selecting teachers in a private education sector in OECD countries are studied. The features of hard and soft skills, as well as requirements to professional duties, which must meet a teacher of a private school, are noticed. Main functions and role of a teacher in Russian non-governmental educational institutions are considered. The most important functions of a teacher to improve level of students’ achievement, as well as overall effectiveness for a private educational organization, are underlined.
