Abstract

Zn1.99SiO4:Tb0.01 and Zn1.98SiO4:Tb0.01, Li0.01 green nanophosphors were prepared by solution combustion method. The phosphors are calcined at 950 °C for 3 h. The structural details of Zn2SiO4 powders are investigated based on the measurement of XRD. The doped Zn2SiO4 has a rhombohedral space group R3H and the crystalline size of the particles are around 80 nm. FTIR spectra analysis proves the presence of pure crystalline zinc silicate. The TEM graphs indicate that the materials are nano structured Photoluminescence measurement of the samples shows that the phosphors emit strong green light centered at 524 & 547 nm under UV light excitation. The excitation wavelength is attributed to 4f-5d transition of Tb3+ ion and the green emissions are attributed to 5D4→7Fj (j=5,6) transitions. The presence of co-dopant Li+ ion increases the luminescence property. The addition of Li+ ions along with Tb3+ act as self-promoter for a better crystallization. Luminescence decay curve measurement shows double exponential decay behavior and fast decay time has observed.
