Abstract

Machinery begins the industrial age. Machinery field include Design, Manufacture, Analysis, Simulation, and Management. For the first step of Machinery, mechanical design, processing will start from the needs assessment. Hence, Mechanical design is an important course in Mechanical major. Recently, through computer science and imaging, computing, mechanical design software is embedding the parametric connect concept named parametric mechanical design software. Before students learn this course, they need to finish previous course, like geometric computing, mechanism, engineering graphics et al. Based on development of instruction science, this Study is combined task-based learning and implementing into 3D parametric mechanical design course. In the course, student need to finish a design task, e.g. Design mechanism or product with innovative concept. All of the students use the Mechanical design software to design their product. The task-based learning is used in for undergraduate student learn 3D parametric mechanical design course. In this study, the innovation of mechanical design is evaluated with two experts who are teaching in mechanical design and innovative design course over 7 years. And the consistency check Kappa is using to evaluate students' product design project with the framework of success criteria for a design project. The result of this study indicates that implementing task-based learning will help students to design a product.
