Abstract
The hydrogen cycle test is the most complex type test of high-pressure hydrogen storage cylinders for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and it is quite challenging to develop a hydrogen cycle test system for this test. The volume of gas source tank and recovery tank can be described on the basis of thermodynamic model with considering of hydrogen mass, pressure, and temperature. The optimal volumes for the tanks are determined by applying the objective function. The sum of pressure drops in each level of the source tanks is used to evaluate the test energy consumption and the optimal pressure at each stage of hydrogen charging and discharging is obtained to minimize the test energy consumption. The tank volume calculation method and energy consumption optimization method proposed in this paper not only reduce the hydrogen consumption and energy consumption during the operation of the hydrogen cycle test system, but also improve the safety and economy of the system.
