Abstract

This chapter describes the Tandberg Electronic Teaching System. The Tandberg Console, which supersedes the usual instructors desk, has a clear writing surface, with master panel, and tape recorders conveniently situated. The bureau design provides accommodation for two tape recorders, radio tuner, record player, and tapes. It is found that when closed, the equipment, at booths and console, cannot be operated, and the teacher‘s tape recorders as well as power switches are locked inside. One Tandberg Model 923 half-track monaural tape recorder is supplied as standard equipment. A Tandberg model 12 half-track stereo tape recorder, with identical physical dimensions, is an optional extra. The stereo machine enables two different programs to be sent out at the same time. Individual volume controls are provided for the teacher's microphone and earphones. The selector on each student module may be set to a desired master program, and this operation makes the student master track available for recording.
