Abstract

This chapter describes the Raytheon Microwave Systems. Microwave relays produced by Raytheon Company will link four Maine TV stations into an educational network to bring programs from the University of Maine campus into individual homes. Stations to be tied together are at Orono, Presque Isle, Lewiston, and Calais. The network will also be hooked into the Eastern Educational Network through Boston TV Station WGBH. The map above shows the route of programs on intra and interstate journeys. KTR IVA is solid-state 4-gc narrow-band auxiliary radio equipment, designed to handle 120 message channels, order wire, and alarm information over wideband radio routes. It is fully protected by 5-year warranty covering component failure, and drift from specifications. It offers full control of order wire/alarm facilities, and eliminates cost, and operating complexities of wire line systems. The Effective utilization of 4180 to 4200-mc frequency allocation is also elaborated.
