Abstract

Abstract Attention to gender has transformed the way we understand psychotherapy. However, the literature on gender in family therapy training is sparse at best. This paper shares our stories about treating two families in a live supervision training group of four male trainees with a female supervisor. Issues for men in family therapy training are described and discussed. Ultimately, we believe that the well-trained therapist needs to develop a repertoire of skills drawn from what are traditionally considered male and female strengths.
