Abstract

Themajority of psychoanalysts today admit that the body and the mind are not separate, but are on the contrary deeply intertwined with each other. Thus, it is possible to consider the psychic life as stemming from the vital necessity to process sensory information. Based on the recent discoveries of embryology, itbecomes possible to rethink the consequences of the first inscriptions in the construction of thepsyche, in connection with sensory experiences. This new knowledge makes it necessary torevise the metapsychology, making the first impulse appear as "tact-pulsion".
