Abstract
This paper proposes a systematic control design approach for multifunctional grid connected converters. The primary task of grid connected converters is to deliver the active power from utility to load. Besides those functions, the converters can also compensate the current harmonics generated by non-linear load, provide reactive power to system, and mitigate the system unbalance. This paper discusses a converter with all those functions. Systematic design procedure is detailed and many design considerations are presented, such as the influence of time delay. During the design process, the system steady state performance, dynamics and stability issues are discussed. Both the simulation and experimental results validate the proposed control and the systematic design approach.
