Abstract

The urgency of the problem is that the health of the country's population is the highest national value, and the revival of the nation must begin with the health, especially of children. Today's schoolchildren are the main potential of the population, whose health is an indicator of the country's prosperity, so studying the health of children is very important today, as the health problems of younger students need new approaches. The purpose of the article is to determine the competence of students in health issues at an early school age. In the study we used the following methods: systematization and analysis of scientific and pedagogical literature on the problem of research, search and bibliographic; interpretive and analytical; theoretical and experimental to formulate research conclusions. Today, about 90% of school-age children have physical and mental problems. The number of children suffering from alcoholism, drug addiction and substance abuse has increased sharply. The number of murders and suicides among students has increased. The growing prevalence of tobacco, alcohol and drug use among young students indicates a low level of knowledge about health, as well as the ineffectiveness of existing forms and methods of maintaining and promoting the health of children not only in organized groups but also in the family. In this regard, one of the priorities of the new stage of education reform should be the formation of health-preserving competencies in student youth. The results of the study showed that with the help of the analysis of psychological and pedagogical literature we were able to understand the essence of health and ways to develop health-preserving competence. It was established that the current education system does not contribute to its formation. We have determined that the formation of health competence in junior high school students will be more effective if such conditions are created as a rationally organized daily routine, balanced diet, optimal physical activity, outdoor physical education classes, hardening procedures appropriate to the age of students , regular quality medical care, favorable hygienic and living conditions, as well as the example of family and teachers.
