Abstract
In the BaIr 1− x Co x O 3− y system several mixed Ir-Co stacking polytypes are present in air in addition to the pure iridium and cobalt phases BaIrO 3 and BaCoO 3− y : a phase with the hexagonal BaTiO 3-type structure (6H; sequence, (hcc) 2; x = 0.333−0.4), a 12R phase (sequence, (hhcc) 3; x = 0.5), a 4H phase (sequence, (hc) 2; x = 0.5−0.7), a 10H phase (sequence, (hchhc) 2; x = 0.667−0.7) and a 5H phase (sequence, hhccc; x = 0.8-0.9). The phase relations and properties are reported.
