Abstract

Mononuclear palladium(II) or platinum(II) complexes containing a 2-pyridyl-functionalised selenosemicarbazone ligand react with bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane in the presence of a silver salt affording dinuclear cationic compounds, in which the dppe bridges two metal centres. The solid-state structures of these compounds are discussed and possible reaction sequences leading to these products are presented.
