Abstract

Anionic surfactants are the largest group of surface-active compounds used in industry; therefore, the aim of this study was to adjust the properties of docusate salts by the introduction of appropriate counterions. Thus, low-toxicity cations were selected to obtain ionic liquids with the desired surface activity. The fundamental influence of the cation on the physicochemical properties was observed. Although the cations were characterized by low amphiphilicity, their selection has a significant impact on the surface parameters. Due to the surface properties of the obtained compounds, they were effective pesticide adjuvants with higher efficacy compared to the currently used additives.
