Abstract
AbstractA series of BODIPY cored dendrimers up to second generation decorated with 3,6‐ditertiary butyl carbazole at the surface and triazole as the bridging unit has been achieved by convergent approach. The synthesised dendrimers show excellent photophysical and electrochemical properties. All the dendrimers exhibit bi‐exponential lifetime decay, with the higher generation dendrimers (G2) exhibiting longer lifetime decay than the lower generation dendrimers. Density functional theory calculations on the synthesized dendrimers show the HOMO – LUMO energy gap as 2.42 eV with predicted absorption maximum around 425 nm. Cyclic voltammetric studies reveal that all the dendrimers exhibit irreversible oxidation‐reduction signal. Higher generation dendrimer (G2) shows a better power conversion efficiency of 2.7% than the other synthesised dendrimers when used as sensitizer in DSSC.
