Abstract
A series of new2-pyridone derivatives was synthesized through reaction of the a,?-unsaturated carbonyl compounds with malononitrile in refluxing ethanolin basic media. The a,?-unsaturated carbonyl compounds were synthesized from the reaction of the hydrazide-hydrazone with substituted benzaldehydes in presence of ethanol, and triethylamine as a base. Hydrazide-hydrazone derivative was prepared by reactions 2-cyanoacetohydrazide with4- benzylsulfonylacetophenonein refluxing ethanol. The structures of all synthesized compounds were confirmed by spectral (FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR) data..
