Abstract

Silver/silver chloride/exfoliated graphite (Ag/AgCl/EG) nano-photocatalyst was synthesized through precipitation and photoreduction processes. Afterwards, physicochemical properties of Ag/AgCl/EG were systematically studied by series of techniques. Results indicated that spherical-like Ag0 and AgCl with a diameter of 18.6nm were deposited onto the surface of EG, resulting in the large surface area, strong visible absorbance and high charge separation efficiency. In addition, Ag/AgCl/EG exhibited high visible light photocatalytic (PC) activity for degradation of RhB (99.5%) and phenol (89.1%) solution. Also, the enhanced visible light PC mechanism was proposed and confirmed. Furthermore, Ag/AgCl/EG nano-photocatalyst performed good reusability even after six recycles utilization.
