Abstract

The synthesis of CH 2CHSiMe 2CH 2Fe(CO) 2Cp, MeOSiMe 2CH 2Fe(CO) 2Cp, [Cp(CO) 2FeCH 2SiMe 2] 2O, Cp(CO) 2FeCH 2(Me) Si(OSiMe 2) 3O , Et 2NSiMe 2CH 2 - Fe(CO) 2Cp, [Cp(CO) 2FeCH 2SiMe 2] 2NH, Cp(CO) 2FeSiMe 2CH 2Fe(CO) 2Cp and HSiMe 2CH 2Fe(CO) 2Cp has been achieved by the reaction of NaFe(CO) 2Cp with an appropriate halomethyl silicon derivative. Reactions of the hydrosilylmethyl complex with Ph 3CCl, Ph 3CBF 4, and CH 3OH produce the corresponding silicon-functional chloro, fluoro and methoxy derivatives. The reaction of Cp(CO) 2FeSiMe 2CH 2Fe(CO) 2Cp and the methoxy, disiloxy and disilazane derivatives with triphenylphosphine appears to produce the expected insertion products. Some properties of the new compounds prepared have been determined and are discussed.
