Abstract
In order to investigate electronic excitations in possible components of future molecular electronic devices, derivatives of carotenoids have been synthesized. By Wittig's carbonyl olefination various donor and acceptor groups have been linked to crocetindialdehyde and a derivative of methylbixin.
