Abstract

Olivine-type Co 1.6SiO 4 was synthesized by firing a precursor at 950 °C for 12 h. The precursor was obtained by the hydrothermal reaction of CoCl 2·6H 2O with Na 2SiO 3·9H 2O at 150–200 °C for 12 h. The cell constant of Co 1.6SiO 4 was independent of the synthetic condition of the precursor. The specific surface area of Co 1.6SiO 4 was 3–4 m 2/g.
