Abstract

AbstractA new series of metal‐containing polyurethanes containing ionic links in the main chain were synthesized by the reaction of hexamethylene diisocyanate with Zn, Cd and Hg salts of mono(hydroxyethyl)phthalate. The structures of the monomeric diols were confirmed by IR, 1H‐NMR, UV spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and solubility studies. The obtained diols are white powders or solids. The prepared polyurethanes were characterized by IR and UV spectroscopy, solubility, and viscosity measurements.
