Abstract

The aim of the present research is to develop a novel nano-magnetic catalyst based on Co complex. EDX analysis showed that 0.08 mmol Co is loaded per g of the catalyst. The characterization of the prepared catalyst was done according to the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), vibrational sample magnetometry (VSM), and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). The prepared catalyst was used in the synthesis of 1,2,4,5-substituted imidazoles by the one-pot four-component reaction. Of the prepared catalyst, some advantages are solvent-free condition, short reaction time, and easy catalyst recovery. As a design of experiment (DOE) method, the response surface methodology (RSM) was used to the optimization of the reaction conditions. The optimal reaction conditions were achieved at 0.05 g and 100○C concerning the amount of the catalyst and temperature, respectively.
