Abstract

A new complex of magnesium and benzene tricarboxylic acid was synthesized via microwave hydrothermal synthesis method. The compounds were characterized with the XRD (X-ray diffraction), SEM (scanning electron microscope), FT-IR (Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy) and DSC/TGA (differential scanning calorimetry/thermogravimetric analysis). Highest yield of the compound was obtained at 200 °C. The compound synthesized at 220 °C was slightly brown in color. The material synthesized at 170 and 200 °C were completely soluble in water as compared to the compound synthesized at 220 °C which was partially soluble in water.
