Abstract

In this study, we demonstrate the preparation of luminescent carbon dots (CDs) by a simple hydrothermal route using Hexamethylenetetramine (HMTA) or Hexamine as the carbon source. A detailed investigation of HMTA - derived CDs was carried out using Photoluminescence (PL), UV visible, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), and Raman spectroscopy studies. Further, using a continuous-wave (CW) 532 nm laser, the third-order nonlinear optical (NLO) characteristics of HMTA derived CDs were studied. From these results, the prepared HMAT - derived CDs will be a perfect candidate for different optical systems.
