Synthesis of hetero-binuclear derivatives of the tetrathiolato complexes [Mo(η-C 5H 5CH 2SR) 2)], R = Pr n and Ph, with platinum, palladium, and rhodium

Abstract

The compound Mo(η-C 5H 4(CH 2) 2SPr n) 2(SPr n) 2 acts as a bidentate ligand giving the heteronuclear bi-metallic compounds [Mo(η-C 5H 4CH 2CH 2SPr n) 2-(SPr n) 2(PtCl 2)],[Mo(η-C 5H 4CH 2CH 2SPr n) 2(SPr n) 2(PdCl 2) 2], [Mo(η-C 5C 4CH 2CH 2SPr n) 2(SPr n) 2(RhCl 3) 2], [Mo(η-C 5H 4CH 2CH 2SPr n) 2(μ-SPr n) 2Rh(dppe)]BF 4, [Mo(η-C 5H 4CH 2CH 2SPr n) 2(μ-SPr n) 2(COD)Rh]Cl, [Mo(η-C 5H 4CH 2CH 2SPr n) 2-(μ-SPr n) 2Pt(PPh 3) 2](PF 6) 2, and the compound [Mo(η-C 5H 4(CH 2) 2-μ-SPh) 2Cl 2Rh(COD)]Cl bonds via the ring-sulphur substituents giving [Mo(η-C 5H 4(CH 2) 2-μ-SPh) 2-Cl 2Rh(COD)]Cl.
