Abstract

ABSTRACT To investigate the effect of synthesis approach on the structural and catalytic properties, CoAl2O4/CuFe2O4/CeO2/Ti O2 ceramic nanocomposite was synthesized by four liquid phase routes: mixing of components in the liquid phase ( method 1), mixing of CoAl2O4 precursor with other components (method 2), mixing of CoAl2O4 and CuFe2O4 precursors with other components ( method 3) and mixing of Cu Fe2O4 precursor with other components (method 4). The catalytic activity of the synthesized nanocomposites was evaluated for the selective catalytic reduction of NO by NH3 (NH3-SCR). The characteristics, such as chemical composition, phase analysis, particle size distribution, specific surface area, average pore diameter, agglomeration degree, and surface acidity were comparatively studied for the synthesized ceramic nanocomposites. The results obtained from the structural studies and the NH3-SCR evaluation revealed that the nanocomposite fabricated by method 4 displayed the best structural properties and the highest catalytic activity among all the synthesized samples.
