Abstract
An efficient synthesis of 2-hydroxy-1,2,3,9b-tetrahydropyrrolo[2,1-a]isoindol-5-ones has been achieved by the Norrish-Yang cyclization of 3-(acylmethyl)-2-alkylisoindol-1-ones in benzene in moderate to high yields.
